Self-Hosting & Infra intermediate 6 min read $0.01 Updated 2026-10-20

Tested on Node 22: counting 200,000 lines with readline, gzip with pipeline, ENOENT surfaced by pipeline versus the error event, a .pipe() without an error handler crashing the process, and chunk sizes via highWaterMark.

Do not readFile a 2 GB log. Use streams and readline to process line by line, chain transforms with stream/promises pipeline, and handle ENOENT and other errors so the process does not crash.
